Dark tunnels run under the city, a labyrinth of hiding places for what doesn’t wish to be seen or found; the city below without light or charity. Ghost rivers run wild and the taint of long dead monsters can still be scented. Some say it was a deranged architect that cursed the city with the under city, under even the trains and the sewers, one-step above hell.
Michella stood at the door, “Here be Monsters”.
Go back; her life would continue to be a misery of degradation and abuse. Forward, life would be hers to determine, he wouldn’t find her.

Delightfully deranged, Val. Excellent!
Thank you, it is a bit off the wall. I had fun with this one.
One of my favorites! I try to read each one before knowing the key word, and part of the reading is to see if I can guess the word. This one was very chilling.
How did you suddenly get thrown into moderation? Dang. Did you guess the word, have to ask of course. I liked this one also, liked writing it and dreaming it. Thanks for liking it also.
Outstanding! Oh that architect…
What did he do? Makes you wonder doesn’t it?
Fabbo choice for a Hallowe’en tale. Methinks for Michella, it is an everyday nightmare walking in the light.

Perhaps, but then there are always monsters aren’t there.
You’re so good at this Valentine, seriously. Loved it 🙂
Thank you my friend. I have gotten to where I really enjoy writing them. They are fun and a creative push.
I love your writing! XXxx And You.
Thanks my friend. From you that is a huge compliment.

Really powerful post, Valentine. The imagery going through my mind is intense, but like most of your other readers commented, I would take my chances underground if I were Michella…sometimes it isn’t what we expect at all when we take such a chance! XOXO-SWM
I think I would also take my chances in the unknown, it seems a better choice. As you say, there are times the unknown offers us surprises. I am so glad you enjoyed this one.

Val
Just calling by to give you some of my Halloween candy 🙂 😉 lol
Andro xxxx
No candy for me, but hopefully no terrible children calling either. Happy all hallows eve to you.
Thank you Val and hey no knocks on my door either, it must have been the scary Zombies and Skeletons that scared them away 😦 lol
Have a fun Friday my dear Valentine 😉 🙂
Andro xxxx
I have been on some of those underground tunnels Val and I came up for air very deranged! 🙂
Excellent my Friend
Wishing you a Happy Halloween 🙂
You and I have both traveled some of those tunnels I think. Coming up for air, maybe we left the monsters behind. Then again, maybe we simply found ourselves where the wild things dwell peacefully.
Happy All Hallows Eve
This is a wonderful FTP Val and
perfect timing for Halloween too.
Have a lovely Halloween with
lots of thrills my sweet friend 😉 🙂
Andro xxxx
Thank you, it is a bit on the spooky side I guess. Glad you liked this one. 😉
I always enjoy what you have to say 🙂
It’s nearly the weekend so have lots of thrills 🙂
Andro xxxx
Well, I hope for her sake she goes forward!
Given the options this seems best doesn’t it?
Great post. Liked it.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the Flash.
Most welcome…
There is a world out there we are barely conscious of but for those affected it is hell.
Isn’t that the truth Ian? We only scratch the surface.
Talk about standing between a rock and a hard place. Love it. 😉
Thanks Tess, it is a tough choice this one. Glad you liked it.
The sense of the mysterious future is very much your style. 🙂
Did my voice come through on this one Frank? Hmmm, mysterious futures for me or my characters…or is it one and the same. 😉
I adore this sentence, Val–“Some say it was a deranged architect that cursed the city with the under city, under even the trains and the sewers, one-step above hell.” Wish I had written it!
Hugs from Ecuador,
Kathy
Could be the start of a strange book? A world build?
I could see that city in my minds eye Kathy and the door that allowed entrance. Strange one this one, wasn’t it?
Thanks

Her choice is obvious, I reckon.
I think it might be too. But only to some of us.
