Screeching tires warn of impending doom, the entire street freezes. A child wails, ear piercing, brokenhearted as angels weep. Mothers, uncertain run to their doors. Was this their child?
In the center of the road she stood, teddy in tatters.
No living person was harmed only her beloved teddy bear.
Flash in the Pan is brought to you by the amazing Red of M3 fame
The Hot Flash word is Brokenhearted. The word limit is 50 words. This one comes in at exactly 50.

Hey, I just wrote a post where the teddy bear gets it, too! Poor teddies.
I’m glad no little ones were harmed in the crafting of your (well done) flash in the pan.
Wow, they are taking a terrible beating. What is up with that? I love teddies too.
Awwww! Oh the poor teddy bear though! Happy Friday
Poor teddy indeed. Terrible thing to happen to a beloved Teddy Bear
Val. You are so good at these. I have tried my hand at a couple of flash fiction contests but I’ve never been able to give them the tension that you do. I loved this one about the teddy bear. Every word held me captive which is the secret of flash fiction, I think. Excellent!
I am learning, they are an exercise but great fun really. Poor Teddy.
Thanks!!
You are the master of suspense!
You humble me! Thanks
Thank God for that!
Anxiety is a job description for us parents.
But Teddy is tattered, terrible thing to have happen.
Ah, my ignorance as an adult. Poor Teddy.
The sirens alone brought me to an abrupt stop. I could h-e-a-r them. What a relief only teddy was damaged. Tense and exhilerating. Awesome.
That means I pulled you in, I am glad. I find I like writing these, they are challenging and interesting.
love your Flash)) So fun. xxx
Ah Kim thank you. They are fun to do. This one I wrote long hand waiting for a meeting to start.
By the way, card winging its way to you and I bought my ticket so I am going to be there! I am so excited. I hope we can have dinner or something.
WOW! SO HAPPY. Yes, we shall have dinner. ❤ Xxxxxx
I know, right! Can’t wait.
Love it, as always.
Thanks Elyse, I honestly am finding these wonderful exercises.
I’ve actually decided to take another writing course (online) — a memoir course, to see if I can do something with my silly dog stories. Wish me luck!
Very cool. I was thinking of trying to find something locally, something where adults gather, mostly though just for some adult interaction.
My schedule is pretty screwy and the online courses are helpful. I took 2 of them before and really did learn a lot. I’d love to do something in person but….
Fabulous flash! (Psst. The word is brokenhearted. Beloved is the testosterone vehicle in your house. IJS)
xxx
Ah, for some reason this just threw me over….word correction completed.
Excellent flash, Val! Then again, everything you write is excellent! 🙂
Have a great day! x
Deb, thank you. I am learning as I go. I have superior teachers.
Nice!
Intense, really nice!
It somehow reminded me Pet Sematary when Gage crosses the street.
You just compared me to Stephen King…hmm
Thanks for stopping in, glad you liked it.
Ah ha … and you are very good at these!
Frank, I am so glad you like these.
Very much so!
This rocks!
Thank you, you should try your hand!
Thank goodness for that Val… I can see you are enjoying these Flash in the Pans… ok now to back track and try and catch up here 🙂
One of these days, Sue, you are going to try your hand at them. 😉
Red, you are right ~ONE of these Days 🙂
*giggles* It only takes one! I swore I would not write this for months on end. I wrote one and now look where we are! xxx
Haha….. yes we can get hooked, but Red you do them SO well……. 🙂
Which is precisely why I am (im)patiently waiting for you to try it 😀
I know…. YOU have a tremendous amount of Patience Red 😉 and so I know you can cope! hehe…. One Day when I am twiddling my idle thumbs, you may see a Flash!— and a Spark! and a Whooooosh!…
*GRINS*
Thank you Sue and Red! I am also waiting for you to join the fun.
