Flash: Coffee

She stumbled, twice from her bedroom to the kitchen. Rubbing sleep from her eyes, she grabbed the pot while punching the grinder. The smell of ground coffee filled the air.

Looking down, she noted she was still dressed from the night before. Never mind, coffee first then solve the mystery.

  1. Excellent flash! I am reminded of something from long ago!

  2. For me, it brings only a few questions to mind. What is she wearing? What is the mystery? If murder, is she the murderer? Does she know about it? Is there blood on her clothes? etc.

  3. A great Flash in the Pan Val… and just trying to rack my brains on how long ago I woke up feeling like that!… Maybe too long! πŸ˜‰

Hope you had a brill weekend… And thank you for your lovely comments too.. πŸ™‚

    • I am a coffee drinker even without the unnecessary roughness of a ‘night before’.

It has been many a decade since I woke up stumbling.

      πŸ˜‰

  4. Val, I agree with Kathy. I too am amazed at how much story you can stuff into 50 words. I’d only be able to write a Flash in the Pan story if the word limit was raised to 800. What do you think are my chances that’ll happen? πŸ˜‰

  5. I don’t think I’d do well at flash fiction, but it always amazes me how folks, like you here, can get so much story told in so few words. Well done! Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
    Hugs,
    Kathy

    • Kathy, I didn’t think I would either being I am usually so verbose. I think you would be surprised, you should try, it is great fun.

I hope you are having a wonderful time settling in.

  6. Yikes, I hope she doesn’t do that again!

  7. singleworkingmomswm says:

Been there ;), but not for a long, long time, thank God.

  8. Must be my age. LOL

  9. What she’s wearing would give me a hint of the shenanigans she was up to the night before! Soooo curious …

  10. Ha-ha. Oh, dear. What in the world…? Tsk tsk. This is wicked fantastic, Valentine.
I hope reading yours won’t colour my thinking when I post mine tomorrow, the last one!

  11. I think you need to tell us more of this one, Val. We’re all wondering …

  12. Loving the bottle of booze too much. I don’t ‘spect coffee to fix that.

  13. The walk of shame perhaps?

  14. That ought to put and end to her drinking!

  15. Hmmmm …. this one can go with many twists and turns. That a way!!!

  16. Am sure once the coffee kicks in she will remember all about those two lifeless stumbling blocks in her bedroom πŸ˜‰

  17. Gray Dawster says:

    When the thumping headache and
nausea kicks in she will know all too well πŸ™‚

This is a great little flash Val, now pop the
kettle on I fancy some of that ground coffee πŸ˜‰

    Andro xxxx

  18. Looks like she had a night out, alright πŸ™‚
