The breeze floated through windows, lifting gauze curtains. Waves crashed in the night against rocks and sand on the not so distant beach; gull cries mixed with other sounds creating the cacophony of nighttime she drifted to sleep.
Softly, hands smoothed across her skin softly. Half way between dreaming and wakefulness, she drifts. Silence, she awakens fully and alone, again alone but touched by hands not her own. She is not paranoid someone is here.
Flash in the Pan is brought to you by the amazing Red of M3 fame
This weekβs word isΒ Paranoid. The word limit for January is 75 words. This one comes in at 75.
Seems a prologue to a mystery thriller! You do have a way with words.

Mystery? Perhaps instead a love story. π
Thanks
Do you fancy building your own DIY Monster,

Monsters or lovers, perhaps both?
Yeah, yeah, but who’s there? Dear god I’ll be thinking about it all day. Great opening to a thriller me thinks.
You take this a direction it might not be, couldn’t it be a lover returned to the sea? Or perhaps a lover lost, ghostly and lonely? We never know, the world holds things we don’t know.
I always fear the worst. Hey, I’m not paranoid in the slightiest π―
Funny reading. Interesting how in a few sentences explain a lot of things
That is part of the great fun of Flash Fiction, the limit of how to convey an idea.
What a fun read, Val. It’s amazing how much you can stuff into 5 sentences. Very clever!
These are great fun Monica. Red, the host of Flash in the Pan has already put out one book of them; she convinced me to test my imagination with this group.
This is excellent Val and how wickedly enjoyable a read
it is too, you are a natural talent for writing these FTP’s and
thank you for offeringsuch a thought provoking piece π
Be well my sweet freind π π

Oooooh, just loved this! I had not sense of spooky, just mystical sensuality. I actually enjoy the place in between sleep and awake when I get there…it is nice to be in the surreal sometimes. XOXO-SWM
Oh, I am so glad you didn’t sense the spooky just the tip of paranoid and mystical.
Dog got out of his pen again
But wouldn’t that be a sloppy tongue not soft hands? WOOF WOOF π

Paranoid or not. Once the idea of a presence enters my mind, I go crackers. This is spooky enough to be interesting, and to make me wonder…
Tess, are you feeling better? I hope so! I wonder as well, I wrote it then wondered…hmmm, who or what was there?
Creepy ending that I didn’t expect … which is good.
Why Frank, I am testing my imagination. Do you think it runs to the darkside?
You are doing well!
Ohhhh, I’m scaaaared! Xxx
Visits, strangers or loved ones. No reason to be scared. Yet.
wouldn’t want to be reading this just before bedtime!
Ah, come on. Don’t we all have dreams like this sometimes, those strange half asleep imaginings.
Scary, Val.
Why scary? Could be someone we miss, someone visiting we dream of. Doesn’t have to be scary, just paranoid dreaming. Right?
I guess I was looking at it as a creepy man, unwelcome. But you’re right. It could be someone missed.
The ending gave me shivers. That’s as good thing!
Shivers? Or chills? They are different you know. Personally, I like a bit of a chill with my awakening π
Haha shivers like… soooo good π
Ooooh I like it! And of course someone is there. What fun is just imagining? It is far better to be righteously paranoid *giggles*

A touch, soft hands leaving her alone before fully awake. A dream perchance?
Good Morning Val, and hummmm what a nice way to spend the night.. A Ghostly presence perhaps, or was it her memory playing tricks… .. What ever Val I enjoyed your entry into Flash in the Pan…
Wishing you a great Day. π Hugs Sue
Hmmm, memory tricks or something else? I won’t tell. π
