They did indeed do that, do you know why? It was for want of silk which was all being used for the war effort, mostly for parachutes. I love silk stockings still, they have such a wonderful feel to them.

I really like this one! Reminds me of a character I once wrote about. I remember hose with seams – kind of sexy.
